Theater Techniques for Transformational Leadership Development

Abstract

Human relationships are always in a constant process of change, due to the interrelationships generated, and at the organizational level the appropriate use of body and verbal language between leaders and collaborators is fundamental. The main contribution of the study is to improve transformational leadership skills, designed to be transversal for everyone, regardless of the occupation or work activity developed. The theatrical techniques of verbal and corporal expression are fundamental to consolidate the individual as a leader; verbal expression stimulates the voice and provides an effective message; body language reinforces the message and provides a sense of security in words and deeds; therefore, the use of these two techniques generates an effective and efficient balance between collaborators and leaders. This exploratory, qualitative and documentary review proposes a model of how theatrical techniques can serve the development of transformational leadership. The interviews showed that there are many people interested in promoting and developing their leadership skills as a democratic, integrative and contextualized tool to what is now developed in organizations to accompany their practice.
